No. 36
Welcome to your club. The club is to be informal, relaxed and very friendly but at the same time professional.
AGM & DINNER & DANCE
On Saturday 3rd March we held our Annual General Meeting followed by the Dinner & Dance. The venue was excellent and the meal super. They were very obliging but I am still not sure that it is the right place. The rooms were a little expensive for the standard. We could really do with top side of Bristol area to be easier for everyone to reach. Any ideas please let me (Shirley) know. We need accommodation which is reasonably priced, good food and a nice function room. It’s really not easy to get everone under one roof or to please everyone.
The AGM had about 45 people there, not good when you consider how many are in the club. Those who lived furthers away were there but a lot of local people weren’t, still we can’t force people to come.
- MAIN POINTS FROM THE MEETING

Insurance Officer reported that we had 6 claims. The claim form seems to be a little complicated and very long winded. Jan will look into changing the policy to Death Insurance and loss of licence instead of Accident Policy. We are expecting a 16% increase for perhaps no one claiming because of the complicated form.
Chairman reported that don’t just take things for granted and assume as we are not mind readers. For example when our 2006 show was cancelled due to lack of interest, afterwards many said they would have come. How did we know?
Membership was pegged at 2006 AGM at £20 for 2 years to be reviewed in 2008. Your membership form is included in this news; just remember from 1st April you are NOT covered on the insurance.
The Premiere Classes at shows are working very well and only needs to be fine tuned. If you have changed your lorry you will have the opportunity to go down to the main classes again to make it fairer to you. If you were placed first in any show last year you will automatically go up to the Premiere Class. If you haven’t won in 2yrs, that is 1st you will also go down to keep a system going.
2 highly commended rosettes and certificates will be awarded in each class at some shows.
The meeting was followed by some presentations
Dave Cross presented a cheque to St Margaret’s Hospice for £1000 raised from his Yeovil event last November. He actually raised £900 and Bob Page from Andover actually made it up to the £1000, so thank you to you both.
Kerry Larcombe presented a cheque for £400 to the same charity from her bank where she works, thank you Kerry.
Hannah Course presented a cheque for £500 to the Children’s Convoy from calendars she made for the club, so thank you Hannah.
A copy of a letter received from the hospice is enclosed.
The raffles on the night raised £349 in total.
