Our third event was the Children’s Convoy to Bristol Zoo. Another fine day weather wise, thank goodness. This event has to be the best day of the year for the Club. I know it takes a lot of fund raising but the look on the children’s faces says it all. The venue this year made a change but the Zoo is quite small really and it was a bit dangerous getting from the mounts to the Zoo. But hey ho we gave it a try and it still proved to be a lovely day.
Special thanks to Paul & Ann Rummey, Steve Lyons, Roger Carter and Mark Parsons for getting the lorries. Bev Moore for getting the children in Taunton area, Sue Autosmart, Just & Stan Robinson for goodie bags and their contents.
Thanks to all the drivers for giving up their time to make this event possible and all their bosses where applicable for the loan a lorries and use of diesel. Next year will be our 5th Convoy more details as soon as we get them. So we can all book the date in, Longleat looks favourable again.
NASSA
On 23rd & 24th June we went to Kingswinford Show for NASSA. Nathan Alan Sharon & Sue make you so welcome and the show is growing and growing. There must have been around 45-50 trucks and many more cars than last year. If you like the smaller friendlier shows this one is a must. Macardi on tap as you came in and so relaxed a brilliant Club Room with cheap beer prices and good entertainment. The food was brilliant with cheap, tasty foor. Steak salad, chips and onions rings for £5 you can’t argue with that. The weather could have been kinder on the Sunday with heavy rain in the morning which does affect the car exhibit side of the show. Thanks you Tony (Smarts) for bringing the Trailer, it had had a new home for two weeks. A valve went on the trailer so thanks to Tony, Anita & Charlie Smart for sorting this out at their Southampton Depot. After the Show thanks to Iain Garaway for bringing the trailer home to Rooksbridge ready for the next show, Shepton Mallet.
United Truckers picked up several trophies.

SHEPTON MALLET
This was our next Show and in true British Summer tradition the weather was awful, some difference to last years scorching sunshine. We arrived on Friday Morning and it poured with rain, a little better in the afternoon. We found a stall on the site selling welly boots; well we’ve started a Club trend with flash wellies in lots of different colours and patterns. They came oin really useful on Saturday as it rained most of the day and again early on Sunday. Most of the main ring events were cancelled and they held quite a bit inside where possible. The lorries couldn’t get into the ring for the final and in all the years of going I have never known them award trophies inside. Once again we did really well taking most of the Live Promotions prizes.

The judges did their best some judges didn’t use sheets as such or put stickers on, but I can assure you everyone displaying a new coloured sticker was judged and even some who forgot! The rain was so bad judging sheets were no good and for interiors as the last 20 driver would not have liked the mud and dirt in their cabs it was the only way to go.
Thank you to all the judges who braved this weather. Thanks to Nat for making the rolls for lunch and finally Ian Course for towing the trailer to Shepton. Most had to be pulled out and to my knowledge this was all done safely.
SANTA POD
This was Neil & Russ’ second show and it was a much better planned show, we really enjoyed it nice people and a good number of trucks. We had about 30 from UT which was a lot more than we thought would be there a lot less noisy than last year thank goodness. The trucks were brilliant going up the strip and the spot we have is by the finish line which is superb. The Show is very friendly and Russ and Neil do make you so welcome and relaxed. Keep it up and we do hope it works as smaller shows are the way forward and the ones we prefer. We need to thank Iain Garaway who took a days holiday to take the trailer and returned it on the Sunday, so thanks mate.
