Welcome to your club.
“The club is to be informal, relaxed and very friendly but at the same time professional.``
BRANDS HATCH
A few of our lorries from United Truckers attended the first meeting of the Truck racing Calendar. It was Brands Hatch over the Easter Weekend. You may recall that there was terrible weather around that area over the weekend. There was heavy snow for most of the weekend and although it looked very pretty it was very cold. We did very well in the showing results
Working Truck
Highly Commended Roger Carter, Graham Miness and Colin Miness
2nd Russell Oliver, Simpson Removals 1st Paul Dayman, Les Knight
American
3rd Dave Kelly 1st David Wearing
On the Truck Racing side I think Brian Burt came 6th and got 4 points, not sure about Steve Horne but think it was 7th
PETERBOROUGH
This will be our first event show wise and we are getting there, always a lot to do in April to get the trailer up and running. We have our new gas boiler so that will help with tea and coffees. Judging will be done on the Sunday. You must have your new sticker displayed for the judges although we know who you are. All presentations of trophies will be 11am on the MONDAY. Please be on time to save people hanging around in the cold and wet (but we know this year it will be sunny and warm. Ha Ha). Please use the trailer for your tea and coffees as they charge a fortune on site. It is there for members to use. The trailer is being towed by Iain Garaway, Universal but will be in late Friday night.
CRICKET ST THOMAS
We are looking for lorries for an event in May (10th – 11th May) run by Blue Ridge Runners. Those who went last year really enjoyed it. It will be the same format as BIBIC just a different venue. The Blue Ridge Runners now organise two events a year for charity so good on them.
DINNER & DANCE/AGM
Next years AGM has been provisionally booked for February 21st 2009 at the Centurian Hotel, Midsomer Norton. More details next month.
We have been contacted by Jean at Ralph-Uren Communications

Failure is NOT an Option
THE HISTORY CHANNEL® TAKES VIEWERS ON A THRILLING, ADRENALINE-PUMPING RIDE IN THIS NEW, RECORD-BREAKING SERIES.
Just 28 inches of frozen water separate them
from certain death!
A thrilling examination of one of the world’s most dangerous jobs! These fearless truckers haul their enormous rigs over the most perilous road in the world, a strip of ice 350 miles long built on frozen lakes connecting the frosty diamond mines in Northern Canada with civilisation.
With a critical 8 weeks to deliver the goods before these ice roads melt back into water, the pressure is on, not only to meet the delivery deadlines but to make it back in one piece. At any point a careless or distracted driver could lose the rig, his livelihood, even his life if the treacherous roads give way. Edging over the speed limit can cause a wave under the ice to burst through the surface and send the rig crashing down some 250 feet into the -35 degree water and certain death.
ICE ROAD TRUCKERS follows the competition and camaraderie of 6 truckers over a 2 month season on the ice road, as they brave white-outs, thin ice and the deadly cold to perform one of themost dangerous jobs in the world. From the construction of this massive frozen highway to the risky final days when the road grows unreliable, ICE ROAD TRUCKERS takes viewers on a thrilling ride.
· This new 10 part series is the cornerstone of THE HISTORY CHANNEL® line-up premiering with a record-breaking 2.4 million viewers.
· Has just completed a hugely successful run on Channel 5, peak audience figures were 2.74 million on Friday March7th beating The Simpsons, Deal or No Deal, Shameless and Neighbours.
Ice Road Truckers
At the AGM Colin Miness as passing around a book he had produced.
It’s a photo book of United Truckers events and lorries, full of nostalgia.
The photos in there are superb and it’s very professionally done.
The book costs £30 and a form is included in this news.
I know Colin took a lot of orders at the AGM. He will have them at the shows so you will get the chance to look at them before you buy.
This club amazes me as people are prepared to work hard to come up with ideas to promote the club, doing this or their own merit and with their own ideas.
Just look how much Hannah’s calendars raise for
the Children’s Convoy each year.
Her idea, her work, well thought out and produced.

OSWESTRY
We are attending this event. It really is a lovely small show. Russ & Neil make you so welcome and will we really have a lovely spot looking out on the Arena and all our trucks can park with us which is good for the members. We really enjoy the smaller shows as it’s much more personal. Results will be 11 am on the Sunday at the trailer as usual.
CASTLE CARY RUGBY CLUB
Buzz Mark Parsons is organising on behalf of his Club a one-day show. It will be on Saturday 24th May and will be a bike and custom show; they would like 10 lorries there. The trailer will be there. It’s a one-day and overnighter with a band during the day and in the evening. Stay overnight and then leave the following morning anyone interested contact Mark on 07966255996
NASSA In last months News you had an entry form for this event at Kingwinwood. We really do recommend anyone available that weekend to go. This is a small show but so friendly and the food and drink is so cheap! We really look forward to this one as there are cars, bikes and lorries a bit like BIBIC weekend.
So why not think about it!!!!
DONNINGTON
There will be a Truck show at this event on 26th & 27th July. Steve Horne is looking for at least 100 lorries. There will be forms to follow for this and Thruxton, hopefully next month.
The Trailer might be in ASSAN that weekend but if not we will definitely be there, so watch this space.
THRUXTON RACE WEEKEND
We will be organizing food there again at a reduced cost. 2 course meal like last year £7.50 per head (children £3.50) 5pm – 7pm on the Saturday. This offer is SATURDAY ONLY.
CHILDRENS CONVOY
This has been booked for Saturday 7th June 2008 returning to Longleat. We are limited to 55 trucks, which is about right for us. We have had to have some limitations though, no air horns and carers to pay for their own rides etc. It seems there was some confusion last time therefore letters stating no air horns or Safari will be given to each Driver and each Carer will be given a letter advising that they have to pay for their own rides.
This is unfortunate but we have to follow Longleat’s instructions as this is the most ideal place and by far the most central and safest.
The representative for each Area are
Paul Rummey Andover 07920282366
Mark Parsons Radstock 07966255996
Ian Course Taunton 07815811179
Roger Carter Chippenham 07831376830
All lorries will need to be at Warminster Services for 11am.
Book your lorries in early as numbers are limited remember it will be first come first served.
If anyone has anything that can be used in the 60 goody bags please could you let Shirley have it by Detling Show, thanks.
