NASSA
We had a really good time at this show, the weather was bitterly cold but dry on the Saturday, but very, very windy on the Sunday. The Nassa gang really make you welcome and work so hard to make this show run like clockwork. There were several lorries but lots of bikes and cars on the Sunday, let’s hope next year they get the weather they deserve nice and hot and sunny.
Nassa Results for UT were;
Best Light Show
1st Tony Borrow (Rockey)           2nd Ian Course (Tigger)
Best Custom Car           Paul Stamps
Best Interior                  Graham Miness

I think you can safely say Tony wiped the board!! Well Done.

SANTA POD WEEKEND
This show was really good, nice weather a bit windy on Saturday very noisy with the dragsters and motorbikes but something different. A lot of the racing trucks were in Europe which was disappointing but couldn’t be helped. Neil, Russ and their team bent over backwards to help and were so friendly. They greet you with a smile and that is worth so much when you have travelled so far.
The standard of the trucks there was good, a little down on numbers.
We are noticing that this is the norm this year and may only get worse as the shows go on.

Thanks to Paul & Estelle Dayman who did all the judging together for this show and as we had over 40 lorries there it wasn’t easy.
We had our annual Dummy Spitting contest in the evening on the trailer and what a laugh, you would be surprise how many people watched it. Ian Course was defending his title. About 15 – 20 took part and the final winner was Will Pringle, Ian had to give up his title coming second. So who knows who the winner will be next year?        Sorry Will not very street cred mate!
SANTA POD (CONTINUED)
On the Sunday we had the Pram Drag Race, this has been planned for many months and it turned out to be a great laugh. The prams were designed by Tony, one painted pink and one cream all decorated up in stripes and stickers. In one pram was Numpty 3, Laurie Garrett with pushers Colin & Graham Miness, in the other Paul Dayman with Russell Oliver pushing. They were all dressed up in woman’s clothes and enjoyed that part a bit too much for my liking. Laurie, Colin & Graham all with full make up! When they went down to the start line of the drag racing track it was all announced properly by Russ of Events and the light had to turn green to let them start, half way up the pusher had to drink non alcoholic drink, being Sunday. Unfortunately Paul’s pram wheel fell off which made Laurie the winner.
The girls went in amongst the grandstand with buckets and raised £436.73 for charity which will be presented at BIBIC at the Blue Ridge Runners event in September. They need £5 million to turn the day centre into a respite centre with a new wing.
Russ seems to think it will be an annual event which is news to us but watch this space!!
We must thank Lee Scott from Truck Insure for his generous donation of £200 for next years children’s Convoy, most kind.

SHEPTON MALLET
Well we had rain again, 2 years in a row now! The Saturday was ok until about 3pm then the wind got up and the rain came in. Sunday the heavens opened then sunshine and thunder and lightning, so not such a good day. The lorries were about 500 down with the weather and the current economic climate which is making a difference at all these shows.
Ian Course brought the trailer in on the Friday, so thank you to him, the weekend as usual was really hectic with membership 15 new members and 20 renewals, which was good considering the number of trucks and people there.
Thank you to Natalie for making the judges lunch on the Saturday and all her help with the paperwork etc.
We did really well again in the results it’s a shame they had to be presented in the hall gain due to the weather.
