Welcome to your club.

2008
And so we come to the end of another year and where has it gone?
We have had a good year really the weather didn't help for some but enjoyable all the same.
PETERBOROUGH  was so warm compared to other years but probable false security for next year its a show where you take everything hat ,scarf, gloves, and guess what? we needed none of it.
The show itself was good but none of the shows were as good this year due to the fuel and economic climate.
We then moved on to CRICKET ST THOMAS for a small show for Blue Ridge Runners lovely little show, super weather and the added advantage of looking around the grounds and the animal park for free!
We then moved on to OSWESTRY and we had a lovely show there but oh dear we did have rain on the Saturday but lovely on the Sunday. The show is so relaxed and a good show of lorries.
We then did a one day show for Mark Parsons at CASTLE CARY for charity the weather was dry for that one. By about 2'o clock they had a good 150 bikes there and wow some really nice ones.
The 5th weekend in a row away was DETLING in Kent. Wonderful show ground lovely show one of our favourites last year, but what a disaster this year. Very muddy and wet underfoot but not a bad weekend, they had incorporated a bike show with it and it was an utter disaster. The bikes seemed to be favoured the poor lorries were stuck outside in the long grass and no toilets. They ruined a really really nice show.
The highlight of the year was the CHILDREN’S CONVOY good weather and 56 lorries descended on Longleat. We had many problems leading up to it with lorries dropping out mainly because the cost of diesel was so so high, but we filled all the places and I just hope we can keep it going for 2009 even if it's on a smaller scale. Long way ahead yet. The children's faces say it all and it's a day everyone enjoys and I must say for what we pay to Longleat we really do get a good deal.
Our next stop was N A S S A Kingswinford nr Dudley a mixture of car, bikes and lorries. Lovely show and the N A S S A gang pull out all the stops to make you so welcome and nothing is too much trouble. I was so cold on the Saturday but nice on the Sunday. If you want a small intimate show then this is the one for you all.
Then we moved on to SANTA POD Northampton this is probably my favourite show of the lot, lots to see and a good show of trucks. The weather was good. The Dummy spitting competition on Saturday night caused a great laugh. We had Quite a crowed watching who enjoyed the free entertainment.
On the Sunday the boys did a charity pram race for BIBIC and they went up the drag strip with full commentary and Russ made it sound like a grand prix. They collected with buckets and as reported before raised nearly £450 well done boys an annual event it seems.
Our local to us SHEPTON MALLET was next and for the 2nd year we had such awful weather and all the presentations were held inside like the year previous. By now the truck entries were well down from 1,200 to 650 but the weather put some off for sure.
We then after a gap moved on to DONNINGTON RACE WEEKEND.Good weather good racing but only about 40 trucks there and in a dust bowl but it was still an enjoyable weekend.
The last show was then THRUXTON  brilliant weekend  Good weather dry on Saturday but rain Sunday afternoon. The best racing ever up there nearly all truck racing and as many lorries as ever.
The last 2 shows BIBIC Bridgwater and Haydock Park were both cancelled due to bad weather. Several of us were all booked into travel lodges at Haydock so there was a mass cancellation programme there.

We had a few laughs that wasn't printed in previous news:
At Peterbourgh Mark & Nicky Smith had given Roger a lift there but when we went to leave we were following them Mark suddenly pulled over and got out laughing they had forgotten Roger they then got half hour down the road and Roger realises he had left his car keys in Tony's lorry back at the show ground!
At Cricket St Thomas Ian and Tony spent all Saturday putting on some lights all around the stage. The lighting ceremony was when it got dark and guess what none of them worked!
At N A S S A Jeremy Roff fell off a white plastic chair on the trailer and to the ground and laughed so much he couldn't get up the tremos could be felt as far as Bristol.

A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL OUR SPONSORS, JUDGES AND EVERYONE WHO HELPED IN ANYWAY THIS YEAR, TOWING, SETTING UP THE TRAILER ETC. WITHOUT YOU ALL AND YOUR HELP THE CLUB WOULD NOT BE THE ONE IT IS TODAY.
FIRWEORKS
We had 2 events at Thruxton Race Track in aid of the Round Table for local charities. They asked Paul Rummey if he could arrange some trucks to attend to do a light show after the fireworks. He managed to get 30 trucks there which was brilliant and the organisers were delighted with the display. So thank you Paul for sorting that out.

BRANDS HATCH TRUCK RACING
There were about 140 lorries there for showing. There was some good racing Brian Burt had a 6th, Steve Horne a 3rd and Ben Horne a 1st.
The weather on the Saturday was rain rain and more rain but Sunday was a lovely.
