We did really well with the results for N A S S A.
- In the top 8 were Tony, Rob Stuchbery and Ian Course.
- Runner up Best in show Ben Keedwell and
- Best in show was Dave Howell with the vintage Scamell.
So well done to you all. We must thank everyone for packing up the trailer on Sunday and to Ian for organising it all to be moved to Hewitts yard and to Alan Walker for allowing us to park there. Tony & Shirley came home as it was Father’s day. The lorry and trailer is now ready to move on to Santa Pod.
SANTA POD 2009
What a super super show this is probably the most enjoyable one on the circuit something so different relaxed, action packed and Neil & Russ and staff are superb always ready to stop and see you all. The Truck side was a really good standard. We needed a boat on the Friday afternoon it followed us up from Somerset as we had the thunder and lightning and torrents of rain on the Thursday and we had the same up there on the Friday, but after that it was lovely all weekend and so hot. On the Saturday night we held the Dummy spitting competition which was a bit of fun the results were:
1st Ryan Edwards 2nd Laurie Garrett 3rd Ian Course
The Ladies had a go this year and their results were;
1st Vicky Keedwell 2nd Mandy wheeler 3rd Shirley Buckingham
Thanks to Hannah who seems to run that now WELL DONE!!!!!
We all paid a £1 which raised £27 for the charity.
On the Saturday Iain Garaway had the opportunity to go in a 2 seater Dragster (invited by truck insure). They did the strip in 8 seconds which was 167.2 miles per hour. He said it was a wonderfull experience.
On the Sunday we had the pram race up the strip. The boys all dressed up in women's clothes and raced with 2 prams. In pram 1, and the winners, was Joe Osgood with Laurie Garrett and Graham Miness pushing. In the loosing pram was Iain Garaway with Russell Oliver and Ben Keedwell pushing. Thanks to Jenny for raiding the charity shops for clothes etc!!. We didn’t make as much money as we had hoped The pram race was running so late and a lot of the public had moved up the other end to watch the kangaroo kid. We raised around £170 which was still good but not nearly as much as last year.

A FUNNY TALE
When the pram race was in progress Jennie told all the men to wear boots to run up the strip as the track was very sticky. What does Jennie wear FLIP FLOPS so got one foot stuck in the strip and then the other stuck Ian had to give her a fireman’s lift to get her off the track a real damsel in distress!!
SHEPTON MALLET
Thank goodness it was a nice dry and hot weekend after having 2 wet years I can tell you it was most welcome. The show was smaller than usual but most of them have been this year. I would say the gate was down and so in some ways it became the show of old when it was smaller. It seemed more like old times friendlier and less impersonal. We as a club were kept very busy as we had around 120 lorries to be judged and we did really well with memberships 14 New members and 25 Renewals up on last year amazingly enough. A few can’t even remember much about the show after drinking, some starting at 7am on the Sat morning!! You know who you are and not to mention others falling asleep in the toilets!!!!.
We did extremely well, once again in Live Promotion Results for United Truckers.

Special thanks must go to all the sponsors and judges. The Judging at this show must be the worse show to judge due to the standard being so high and the number of lorries and also finding them to judge so THANKS
Special Award for most effort at all the shows and yet has not won anything goes to LAURIE GARRETT
ANOTHER FUNNY TALE
Iain & Sue Garaway have a trailer which they bring to Shepton Mallett. The weekend before the show Sue got everything organised and they filled the trailer and if you knew Sue it would include the kitchen sink. They then tried to get it out the back garden!!!!!! The house they live in has all been rendered outside and the gap to get the trailer out has become smaller so despite pushing and pulling, it would simply not go through the gap. So guess what? everything had to be unpacked to get the trailer out and had to be all packed up again.
