It's been a good year and we have been luckier with the weather on most of them compared to last year. The most unfortunate was probably Uttoxeter where it poured with rain on the Sunday all day. Oswestry once again had to have their presentations inside because of the ground but in a funny sort of way it’s quite nice friendly and everyone really cheers each other which is nice. Shepton thank goodness had a good weekend after having 2 years of very very wet weather and although the lorry numbers were down it went back to how it used to be friendly and a lovely atmosphere.
Could we thank all sponsors judges and anyone who helped to keep the shows running smooth. It is hard work and we need that help to continue as Tony has heart problems again so he can’t run around like he did before.
Could we also thank all the committee who put in all the back ground work to keep the club ticking no-one gets paid it’s all done on their own time and thankless tasks for some.
AGM BUFFET AND DANCE
This has been booked for Saturday 27th Feb. 2010. We have gone back to the same venue as this year, The Battleborough Hotel, just off junction 22, M5.
The hotel has been taken over and they have upgraded many areas including the bedrooms, as we are regular customers of the hotel we have had the venue for nothing and the accommodation for the same price as last year. If you tell them when you book that you are with United Truckers you will get another 10% discount on the rooms.

We see that Bernard of the 2 R'S carnival club was dressed as a woman again this year we have come to the conclusion he likes to where women's clothes as this is the 2nd year running for him to do this well done Bernard !!!
BIBIC DONATION
Tony and Shirley went along to represent United Truckers for the opening of the new hydro pool at BIBIC that was badly damaged 12mths ago to the date that it was reopened 6/11/09. No results were ever found out why the pool caught fire but BIBIC were so lucky as they nearly lost the lot. Thanks to all members who raised money for BIBIC.

AGM
The AGM will be at 5pm followed by a buffet and disco. The Disco will be the same guy as last year and the buffet will be the same, those who went last year will know there was so much food a lot got sent back so we will start the food coming out earlier then keep it rolling. We will hold a raffle which will go to a Charity of choice on the night of the AGM.

ASSEN
A few of us have all ready booked for Assen and if you’re thinking of going, you need to book your accommodation now as its the 30th Anniversary and all the hotels in ASSEN and by the circuit are all fully booked. We are staying 6.9 miles from the circuit and that hotel is now fully booked so be warned.

Some of our members braved the weather and went to this event. It seems the weather on Saturday was good but Sunday morning it blew a gale and awful rain. As usual we did really well in results.

I have heard that 2 members were still in bed Sunday lunch time the water was very strong on the Saturday night. I expect they said never again (TIL THE NEXT TIME) It seems Nick Revitt was up dancing on Sat night which he has never done before, and it seems Ady lost his legs and to get him back to the lorry they had to escort him there on a quad bike ha ha ha.

I know times are hard at the moment so if I can help any of the guys tell them to get in touch.
Let’s say a driver is going for an interview and finds his forklift or his Hi-Ab licence has expired or anything else that he may need to get the job, then call me you never know I maybe able to help.
Do not worry about the driver CPC for those who already have a LGV licence you have 5 years to get your training
from Sept 09.
There are some exceptions but not many it may be you will have to consult a solicitor although it is a driver’s responsibility to do it most employers I have spoken to are paying for it for their drivers.
I am going to be doing it free of charge if the driver will sign to do a Driving Goods Vehicle NVQ (not difficult)
