History of United Truckers
United Truckers has now been running since 2003, and what a great Club it has turned out to be!
We are very lucky to have loyal friendly members in the Club.
We aim to be informal but with a professionally run Club.
The Committee who started the Club all had previous experience with Clubs and therefore they knew exactly what the members wanted from their Club.
In the past 4 years we have helped many charities, CLIC (Cancer & Leukemia in Children) BIBIC (British Institute for Brain Injured Children) Macmillan Nurses, North Devon Hospice to name but a few.
Each year in June/July we have our highlight charity event; The Children’s Convoy. We take mainly Downs Syndrome and Autistic children to Longleat for a day out. The children travel in style in 4 Convoys each of approx. 15 lorries traveling from different areas ·Taunton, Andover, Chippenham and Radstock.
The Convoys then all meet up at Warminster Services to form one huge Convoy to go into Longleat. It’s a sight to see. People’s generosity for the children’s ‘Goodie Bags’ is overwhelming. We also have many items given to us to raffle or auction to pay for the event.
The Membership runs from April to April and this includes an Accidental Death Policy.
Each year we hold our A.G.M. followed by a lavish Dinner & Dance.
We attend most Truck Shows as a Club. We hold our Show within a Show, for our members, at many of them. We appoint our own judges and have our own trophies and sponsorship
